What's Cooking?
Love and comfort!

🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽

The Loving Kitchen is a collection of comforting recipes straight from the kitchen of popular food blogger LeAnn Rice.
You know the feeling you get when you’re an overnight guest in someone’s home, and you awaken to a hot-off-the-griddle breakfast? Or when a coworker brings in a pan of her famous brownies to celebrate your recent promotion? Doesn’t it feel great when dinner at the neighbors’ house includes multiple courses of scratch-made recipes and conversation that lingers beyond dessert and that last cup of coffee?
For many of us, these are the moments in which we feel most loved. That’s the idea behind The Loving Kitchen. Get your family’s day started right with LeAnn’s fluffy Pumpkin Spice Pancakes, or a bowl of Almond Coconut Granola and yogurt. Keep your favorite sports fans fueled through the entire game with hearty servings of Hot Sausage and Spinach Dip, or toss together a Grilled Chicken and Berry Salad for lunch with your dearest girlfriends.
Want a signature dinner you can serve on those special occasions? Stuffed Pork Tenderloin with Orange Cranberry Glaze with Creamy Smashed Baby Potatoes is the perfect meal to celebrate a milestone. LeAnn’s sunny narrative and ideas for bringing people together will remind you that the best meal you’ll ever cook is the one you prepare as an act of love.

MY REVIEW

There’s something about old fashioned downhome cooking that I can’t get enough of. I’m sure that’s most for true people. I search out cook books with these well-loved recipes because I love seeing the slight variations from what I grew up on. I found THE LOVING KITCHEN by Leann Rice, and I’m so happy I did!

Starting with a short introduction, and notes and tips from the author’s kitchen, Ms. Rice jumps right into the recipes. Recipes that are interspersed with beautiful color photos, and lovely inspirational quotes.

Chapters include, Morning Fare, Bountiful Breads, Starters and Salads, Soups and Sandwiches, Entrées, Vegetables and Sides, Desserts, and Reaching Out and Gathering In.

As for those recipes I mentioned . . . Oh. My. Goodness. What recipes they are!  You’ll find . . . Baked Eggs in a Cradle, Pumpkin Spice Pancakes, Cinnamon Spice Donut Muffins, Cottage Herb Bread, Baked Crab Dip, Pico De Gallo Salad, Butternut Squash Soup, Cranberry Chicken Salad Sandwich, Southern-Style Beef Tips over Rice, Lemon Herb-Crusted Fish Fillets, Fiesta Noodle Bake, Lasagna Pinwheels, Roasted Veggie Flatbread Pizza, Cheesy Corn Pudding, Creamy Broccoli-Cauliflower Casserole, Humming Bird Cupcakes, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Pie, Tiramisu Parfaits, Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars, and way too many more to mention!

THE LOVING KITCHEN was a welcome assault to my senses from the photos that filled my eyes, to the descriptions of the mouthwatering food that had my stomach loudly grumbling. It’s also a book that did my heart good. With the love between the pages reawakening the love stored in my heart for meals long past, I felt Mom, Daddy, and Mommom beside me when I closed the book. Even as I finish this review, I am catching a phantom whiff my Dad’s fried chicken.

  2. I also like old time cooking the way my mother made meals. I miss her chicken and pot roasts. I do make a number of foods you mentioned in your review. Sounds like a great cookbook. Thank you, Lisa.
