BOOKS OF A FEATHER by Kate Carlisle
KNIT TO BE TIED by Maggie Sefton

THE CALAMITY CAFÉ
Book 1 in the Down South Café Mysteries
by Gayle Leeson

First in a new cozy mystery series featuring Southern cooking that is to die for.

Aspiring chef and small-town Virginia native Amy Flowers is ready to open her own café offering old-fashioned Southern food. But her dream may go up in smoke when someone kills the competition...

Tired of waiting tables at Lou’s Joint, Amy Flowers doesn’t just quit—she offers to buy the place from her bully of a boss, so she can finally open the café of her dreams. Amy can't wait to serve the kind of Southern, down-home treats and dishes that her grandmother always loved to the kooky cast of regulars at the restaurant. She knows her comfort food will be the talk of the sweet, small town of Winter Garden, Virginia.

At first Lou Lou refuses to sell, but when she seems ready to make a deal, she tells Amy to come see her.  Showing up at the eatery ready to negotiate, Amy is shocked to find her former employer murdered. As the prime suspect, Amy will have to clear her name by serving up the real killer—and with Lou Lou’s stack of enemies, that’s a tall order.

Includes delicious Southern recipes!

MY REVIEW

Author Gayle Leeson had me at page one!

I don’t know about others, but for me, ever so often a book comes along, and with the very first sentence I know I’m in for a wonderful read. THE CLAMITY CAFÉ is such a book. I was enjoying it so much, I was a little annoyed if my reading was interrupted.

I completely connected with lead character, Amy Flowers. I immediately felt like she was a friend.  There are scene with her and several older citizens from town, where I smiled the entire time. All of the characters have such fun personalities! Each on is so unique. I’m ready to pack my bags, and move to Winter Garden, Virginia, and spend my days with these folks!

Brilliantly penned by author Leeson, THE CLAMITY CAFÉ is a fast paced story that will leave readers anticipating every new page. I know I did! From the discovery of the murder victim, to the surprising reveal, this is a solid mystery, and everything I look for in a cozy!

I’m looking forward to reading this series for many years to come!

Make sure to check out the back of the book for some great down home recipes, and an excerpt from THE QUICK AND THE THREAD, the first book in Amanda Lee’s (Gayle Leeson) Embroidery mysteries!

by Kate Carlisle

Hardcover

From the New York Times bestselling author of Ripped from the Pages, San Francisco book-restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright’s latest project is for the birds, but it may have her running for her life. . . .

Brooklyn’s friend Ian runs the Covington Library, which is hosting an exhibit featuring John James Audubon’s massive masterpiece, Birds of America, currently on loan from an Arab sheik. During the gala celebrating the book, she is approached by Jared Mulrooney, the president of the National Birdwatchers Society, who urgently needs Brooklyn's skilled hands to repair a less high-profile book of Audubon drawings that’s fallen victim to spilled wine.

At the same party, Brooklyn is flying high after she’s asked to refurbish and appraise a rare copy ofPoor Richard’s Almanac. But everything runs afoul later that evening when Mulrooney’s body is discovered in the library. Rumors fly about a motive for murder. Perhaps Mulrooney wanted to sink his claws into the pricey Audubon book, but Brooklyn believes the man died fighting off a daring thief.

Soon more troubles ruffle Brooklyn’s feathers. Her parents pop in for a visit with an unsavory friend in tow, and there’s a strange man on her tail. With danger beginning to circle Brooklyn’s every move, it’s clear she must find answers before things really go south . . .

MY REVIEW

Author Maggie Sefton has knitted another crafty mystery!

I had a great time being back in Fort Collins, Colorado hanging out at Lambspun. Well, you know, that murderer running around was a bit of a drag. ;-)

KNIT TO BE TIED is a perfect addition to the Knitting Mystery series. Ms. Sefton has written a cast of characters that stay with you log after the story is done. It’s been wonderful to watch these characters grow over the course of these fourteen books.

A tight, yet delicately woven mystery, KNIT TO BE TIED has everything a cozy mystery should have, and more. And enticing mystery or two, lots of twists, turns, and bumps, all equal an amazing tale that will keep you reading well past your bedtime.

It’s death by Danish in the newest mystery from the national bestselling author of Death Under Glass, featuring stained-glass enthusiast and amateur sleuth Georgia Kelly.

Life in Wenwood, New York, sparkles for Georgia, but for one of her neighbors, it’s about to lose its luster...

Georgia’s day-to-day routine finally seems to be lining up. Stained-glass projects in the morning, clerical work for a law office in the afternoon, and waitressing in the evening. Best of all she gets to spend relaxing Sundays with her new boyfriend. But that comfortable pattern is about to be broken.

First Georgia’s cat goes into heat and literally disturbs the peace. Then Georgia’s mother drops in for a visit with her new husband in tow. But everything falls to pieces after a local activist is found dead from a poisoned danish. Authorities quickly put the heat on Rozelle, owner of the local bakery, but no one in town believes Rozelle capable of murder. Now it’s up to Georgia to crack the case and foil the real killer’s plans before the tranquility of Wenwood is shattered.

MY REVIEW

A sparkling addition to the Stained-Glass Mysteries!

Author Jennifer McAndrews has written another fabulous installment to her colorful, National Bestselling cozy mystery series. I finished this book in almost one setting. I didn’t want to put it down!

A SHATTERING CRIME is a wonderful mix of mystery, intrigue, and humor. I really like protagonist, Georgia Kelly. The story is from her point of view, and she say and thinks some of the funniest things! I laughed out loud a few times. As for the mystery aspect, it was extremely well thought out. There were just enough twists in the story, without weighing it down, to keep me guessing until the end.

You’re going to want to add A SHATTERING CRIME to your reading list!

The house’s repairs and upgrades between the Amish craftsmen and their Englisch counterparts are proceeding well until a tremendous shock comes to the workers when the electrician is found dead on site. MY REVIEW

Author Isabella Alan has stitched together a wonderfully crafty mystery!

MURDER, HANDCRAFTED, the fifth installment of the Amish Quilt Shop Mysteries, is one of the best of this series so far. It’s a mystery that will really hold your attention.

TITLE WAVE
Book 10 in the Booktown Mysteries
by Lorna Barrett

Hardcover

Tricia and Angelica leave Booktown behind for a pleasure cruise, but they’re going to need their life jackets because a murderer has also booked passage—in Lorna Barrett’s New York Times bestselling series.

While her bookstore, Haven’t Got a Clue, is rebuilt following a devastating fire, Tricia Miles and her sister, Angelica, decide to book a cruise for some much needed R&R. Naturally they choose a Mystery Lovers cruise, where they can ponder whodunnit in deck chairs while sipping colorful drinks and soaking up some rays.

But the fun is cut short when a fellow passenger is murdered for real. Is the killer a famous mystery author, one of his fans, or a member of the ship’s crew? As Tricia tries to find the killer before they reach port, she may be cruising for a bruising...

MY REVIEW

Another wonderful installment to the bestselling Booktown Mysteries!

I was a bit hesitant when I first started reading TITLE WAVE. I don’t normally care for books that take the main character away from their hometown. I needn’t have worried. Author Lorna Barrett transitioned her protagonist and friends perfectly. The cruise ship themed story made for a marvelous whodunit!

A tale of murder on the high seas, TITLE WAVE was a fast moving thrill ride. Chapter after chapter this story was filled with enough twists and turns to capsize a ship. With more suspects then a few, I kept second guessing myself on the killer’s identity. When the reveal came, I was taken by surprise, and even more so at how that scene ended!

Booktown Mystery fans, and new readers alike are going to be thrilled with TITLE WAVE!

Make sure not to miss the tasty recipes at the back of the book!

THE DIVA SERVES HIGH TEA by Krista Davis
THE BLACK CAT KNOCKS ON WOOD by Kay Finch
DEAD END STREET by Shelia Connolly

THE DIVA SERVES HIGH TEA
Book 10 in the Domestic Diva Mysteries
by Krista Davis

The New York Times bestselling author of The Diva Steals a Chocolate Kiss serves up a new mystery steeped in murder...

When The Parlour opens up in town, domestic diva Sophie Winston finally has a place to satisfy her cravings for all things tea and crumpet related. And the shop serves as the perfect place for the ladies of the town to gather and gossip, especially since it’s conveniently located right across the street from the new antique store run by the handsome and charming Warren Smith.

But speculation around Warren really boils over when he’s found dead—a victim of poisoning after attending a literacy fundraiser at The Parlour the night before. What Sophie learns about the man leaves a bitter taste in her mouth, and she’ll have to strain out a killer from a strange brew of suspects...

MY REVIEW

The Domestic Diva is back, and better than ever!

Ten books into this wonderful series, and Krista Davis still gives a story that is as fresh as tea time treats.

The first thing I have to mention is how much I love that each chapter begins with a “Dear Natasha” or “Dear Sophie” letter. I went through and read them all before I started the book! I couldn’t help myself.

A friend of mine has been teaching me the way of “tea”. She doesn’t know she if, but I’ve been paying close attention to her FB posts. So, needless to say, I was thrilled to see Ms. Davis had made this a part of her latest Diva mystery.

Expertly written, THE DIVA SERVES HIGH TEA, is now my favorite in this amazing series. With an excellent plot, this fast paced whodunit was all I hope it would be and more! I simply couldn’t put it down until I had finished.

Fans of this series are going to adore this installment, and be left anxiously awaiting the next. Personally, I think it is time for one called The Diva Write A Book. Krista Davis, if you’re reading this, you can use that idea if you’d like. ;-)

Keep reading when the story is over, for tasty recipes, and entertaining tips. And check out the excerpt of MISSION IMPAWSIBLE, Krista Davis’s next Claws & Paws Mystery.

THE BLACK CAT KNOCKS ON WOOD
Book 2 in the Bad Luck Cat Mysteries
by Kay Finch

The author of Black Cat Crossing is back as mystery novelist Sabrina Tate and her cat Hitchcock find themselves roped into another dangerous murder case...

Sabrina finds it difficult to work on her latest suspense novel when her Aunt Rowe’s antics keep tying up her thoughts. This time Rowe and her fun-loving friends have decided to compete in the upcoming Texas Hill Country Senior Pro Rodeo. The problem is these women have little to no experience with lassos, bulls, or even horseback riding.

Before Sabrina can keep the stubborn seniors from mounting their steeds, she’s sidetracked by a bigger problem. An uppity local business owner is found dead in an accident—right after a black cat was seen in her office. While the townsfolk think the bad luck cat has struck again, Sabrina suspects there might be something more murderous afoot. With a twisted killer on the loose, she’ll have to round up clues quickly before she or her aunt are steered straight into the path of danger...

MY REVIEW

Black cats are unlucky? Maybe for some, but certainly not for author Kay Finch or her readers!

Cat cozy fans are going to be thrilled with this second book in the Bad Luck Cat Mysteries, but you certainly don’t have to be a cat lover to enjoy this wonderful tale.

My return trip to Lavender was just as exciting as my first. With murder, seniors (as in citizens) rodeo, and paranoid fear over an innocent black cat…how could it not be?

THE BLACK CAT KNOCKS ON WOOD was a wonderful mystery. Writer Sabrina Tate and her black cat, Hitchcock, are once again at the center of a murder. With one thing after the other going wrong, I was uncertain the murderer would ever be found. But of course the baddy was found! With a great plot, superbly penned by author Finch, this story kept me guessing until the action filled reveal!

The back of this book has some yummy recipes. Make sure to check them out!

DEAD END STREET
Book 7 in the Museum Mysteries
by Sheila Connolly

The New York Times bestselling author of Privy to the Dead returns to Philadelphia for more history—and a chilling mystery . . .

When the Pennsylvania Antiquarian Society discovers it owns some unique real estate, a deadly plot unfolds . . .

Society president Nell Pratt believes life is finally going her way. Everything’s running smoothly at work, and her love life is thriving. Then some unexpected news rocks her foundation. Two members of a local neighborhood rescue program, Tyrone Blakeney and Cherisse Chapman, inform Nell that her society owns an abandoned row house in a rundown area of Philadelphia and they insist on taking her to see the property before its date with the wrecking ball.

But soon after they arrive at the house, Cherisse is fatally shot and Tyrone is badly injured. The police believe it’s just random violence in a bad neighborhood, but Nell thinks there’s more to it and is determined to find answers before someone else becomes history . . .

MY REVIEW

Another well written story in the Museum Mysteries!

If you are looking for a true-in-every-way cozy mystery, DEAD END STREET may not be for you. But, if you’re looking for a bit of an edgier cozy, one that is a great read, then this is the book for you!

Author Sheila Connolly takes us back to the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, PA. I really enjoy reading the Museum Mysteries because I live just about two hours from Philly, and I’ve been there often. I love reading about places I’ve been.

DEAD END STREET shows Philly at its best and worst, but it showcases Ms. Connolly’s skill as an author in the best possible way. The author has penned a story that contains just the right balance of mystery, intrigue, and action.

If you love mysteries that keep you guessing until the outstanding end, look no further, DEAD END STREET is the book for you.

Make sure to check out the back of the book for an excerpt from Sheila Connolly’s newest Count Cork mystery, A TURN FOR THE BAD!
