‘TWAS
THE WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS is the debut novel for author Mark Justice. I’d like
to welcome Mr. Justice to the world of cozy mysteries. There are only a handful
of male cozy authors, so it’s nice to see another join the genre.
Mr.
Justice is off to a strong start with this first book in his Seasons Change
Mysteries. Having the story set during just after Christmas is an interesting
premise. While I find that time of year a little sad and depressing, the author’s
description of how his protagonist feels about the day after Christmas . . . The day after Christmas was Abigail Price’s
favorite day of the year. It was quiet elation, like the first bite of vanilla
ice cream, the cold sweetness slowly melting and trickling down as it’s swallowed,
tickling the belly like cold laughter. . . What? What a beautiful way to
think of it!
Speaking
of lead character, Abbie Price, she’s a very likeable character, and I enjoyed
getting to know her. It’s going to be nice spending time with her and watching her
grow as the series continues. There are also some nice supporting characters I’m
looking forward to learning more about.
The
mystery in, ‘TWAS THE WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS, different from any I’ve read in a
while, was well written and plotted out. I was kept guessing through the story
and really surprised with the outcome.
For
a debut book, author Justice did a great job. I’m sure he’ll have a growing fan
base once readers come to the end of ‘TWAS THE WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS.
As always, please leave a comment and
Thanks, Lisa! Will definitely check this out. Happy Saturday!
