BOOK TOUR

I'm happy today to be a stop on the book tour for
LOAD UP
Book 3 in the Lark Davis Mysteries
by Annabelle Hunter

Too many suspects can be as bad as no suspects at all…

Lark Davis, horse trainer and reluctant amateur sleuth, is sure that her crime-solving days are behind her. At least that’s what she told her grandmother. However, when her Homeowners Association President and owner of the local hardware store is found dead the day after she had a public fight with him, Lark is back in the last place she wants to be — the middle of a murder case.

But this is Barrow Bay, and things are never as they seem. Gerald Pratchett had a list of enemies a mile long, and each one had a very real reason for wanting to see him gone. When the police get overwhelmed with too many suspects, including herself, Lark realizes that it is up to her to bring his killer to justice.

Nothing can stop Lark from finding out the truth — and getting her man.

AN INTERVIEW WITH ANNABELLE HUNTER

LKBR:  Thank you for being here today, Annabelle!

Annabelle: Thank you for letting me be here. I’m so excited to talk with you.

LKBR: Please tell us a bit about you, and your book/series.

LKBR: Any hints or spoilers you can give us about your next book?

Annabelle: Well… there’s a dead person? I will tell you that my next book is another off shoot due to a short story that ran amok and didn’t stop, so there’ll be another Barrow Bay character getting their own series coming Spring 2020.

LKBR: Have you ever written a scene that you loved but had to remove it for the sake of the story?

Annabelle: YES! And I fought with my editor through two rounds of editing to try and save it before I had to concede she was right. It hurt. But when everything was said and done, she was right that the story was significantly better without it.

LKBR: Have you ever gotten reader’s block? Just find it hard to get into reading because you are so into your writing?

Annabelle: Yes. Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone! Yes, depending on where I am in the book or editing, I have problems getting into books. Generally, I make up for this when I’m trying to avoid editing.

LKBR: Are there any magazines/publications that as a writer you subscribe to? Are these or others something readers could also benefit from?

Annabelle: I’m in several writer’s groups that have all been helpful as a new author. I also follow a few social media sites to get more perspective on the business of writing, but to help actually write? I think the most helpful thing was reading, and then looking at the books I liked and didn’t like and trying to understand why. What about this imagery bored me, when I loved it in this book. That kind of thing.

LKBR: Is there anything you would give up if you thought it would make you an even better writer?

Annabelle: Okay, there are a million things I would give up for more writing skill. Like editing. And broccoli. And being cold when I’m trying to write and my fingers freezing. I’d give up any of that.
But on a more serious note, I’m trying to give up, or greatly reduce some words like ‘umm’, ‘so’, ‘very’’, and ‘yeah’ in my writing. And exclamation marks. I might have a slight addiction that drives my editors crazy. Happy editors are important. They get sarcastic when irritated, which is funny, but also painful.

LKBR: Any new projects in the works?

Annabelle: Yep. I have two projects in the work for hopeful publication in 2020. Neither have a firm title yet, so I’m not announcing them, but I will promise that Lark has another book coming!

LKBR: If you could ask your readers 3 questions, what would they be?

Annabelle: I’m always trying to learn how to improve my books, so it would be pretty boring right now. Mostly, what did you like? What didn’t you like? If you could change one thing what would it be? What would you like to see in the future? Any of the above.

LKBR: Where can readers go to learn more about you and your books?

Annabelle:

LKBR: Thank you so much, Annabelle for letting us get to know you better!

Annabelle: Thank you.
