BOOK TOUR

I'm so excited to be a stop on the
book tour for
Kate Parker
and her new book
THE DETECTING DUCHESS
Book 5 in the Victorian Bookshop Mysteries

The only thing standing between Georgia and her fairy-tale wedding is a murder. Or two.

When a young woman pleads for help from Georgia Fenchurch in locating a missing Crown investigator, Georgia resists. Her wedding is only a week away. Before she can say no, she's knocked to the ground by an assailant attempting to kill the young woman.

Georgia now feels she must help. She soon finds herself up to her wedding veil in stolen treasure and coded letters. With the Duke of Blackford's help, Georgia follows a trail of missing men and dead bodies. Every victim had one thing in common - a desire to possess a fortune in gold.

In between the society balls and social calls of late Victorian London, Georgia works on her last case before the big day. Will she stop a ruthless killer in time? Or will Georgia find getting to the altar on time is going to be murder?

A Word From Kate Parker

I’ve known for the past year that Georgia would get married at the end of book five in the Victorian Bookshop Mystery series, The Detecting Duchess. That meant I needed a London church that would meet my requirements for the wedding of Georgia and the Duke of Blackford.

It needed to be large. It needed to have very few steps to enter the sanctuary. It needed a pipe organ, a stained glass window over the altar, and a certain amount of age by 1897 to lend it dignity.

I found what I was looking for in St. Luke’s in South Kensington, whose first minister was a brother of the Duke of Wellington. Since I was headed for London anyway, I decided a stop there would tell me if I’d found the site for Georgia’s wedding.

St. Luke’s stands a little away from Sydney Street and the heavy modern London traffic. The floor is large blocks of stone, which might have caused difficulties had I chosen to write the story that way. It is an impressive church with solid wooden pews. (I had to try one out)

I could picture Georgia walking down its aisle toward the Duke of Blackford. All I had to do was move it to the Bloomsbury area where Sir Broderick’s home is and change the name to St. Ethelbert’s. Take a look at the photos I took of St. Luke’s. Can you see Georgia and the duke standing before the altar saying their vows?

I hope you enjoy The Detecting Duchess. Available now in print and ebook formats at all major retailers.

About Kate

Kate Parker grew up reading her mother's collection of mystery books by Christie, Sayers, and others. Now she can't write a story without someone being murdered, and everyday items are studied for their lethal potential. It's taken her years to convince her husband that she hasn't poisoned dinner; that funny taste is because she just can't cook. The five books in her Victorian Bookshop Mystery series are currently available, as are the first two books in her Deadly series.
