I'm so excited to be a stop on the blog tour for
THE PUPPY WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
Book 2 in the Dog Club Mysteries
by V.M. Burns

Lilly Echosby and her toy poodle Aggie find a fresh start in Chattanooga, Tennessee, spoiled by the scent of murder. . .
Having solved the shooting death of her cheating husband, Lilly's left behind the drama of Lighthouse Dunes, Indiana, to start over in the hometown of her best friend, Scarlett "Dixie" Jefferson. As she gets settled in her new rented house, Lilly gives Aggie, short for Agatha Christie, her own fresh start by enrolling her in the Eastern Tennessee Dog Club, where Dixie is a trainer.
But drama seems to hound Lilly like a persistent stray. Her cranky new neighbor appears unfamiliar with Southern hospitality and complains that Aggie barks too much and digs up his prized tulips. But what the poodle actually unearths is the buried body of a mysterious man who claimed ownership of the lost golden retriever Lilly recently rescued. Now it's up to Lilly and Dixie to try to muzzle another murderer . . .

INTERVIEW
V.M. Burns

Interview Questions 2019
Lisa Ks Book Reviews

LKBR:  Thank you for being here today!

VMB: Thank you so much for having me.

LKBR: Please tell us a bit about your Dog Club Mystery Series

VMB: The Puppy Who Knew Too Much is the 2nd book in the Dog Club Mystery Series which features Lilly Echosby and her toy poodle, Aggie. In the first book, Lilly was facing an ugly divorce, but when her husband is murdered, the police believe Lilly is a great suspect. In book 2, Lilly decides to move to Chattanooga, TN to be closer to her best friend and to start fresh. When Aggie finds a dead body, Lilly sets out to find the killer.

LKBR: Any hints or spoilers you can give us about the next book?

VMB: Lilly is looking for her “happy place” in Chattanooga, TN. She is making a clean start for her and Aggie. This involves finding a place to stay, a job and making friends. There might also be room in her heart for a little romance.

LKBR: Have you ever written a scene that you later had to edit out of the finished book?

VMB: Absolutely, especially because I’m a “pantser.” I love to write by the seat of my pants. I sit down and just see where the characters lead me. When I’m finished, I edit. Sometimes, my characters go down paths that don’t advance the plot and those scenes end up getting removed. It can be difficult to cut scenes, but sometimes it’s necessary.

LKBR: Any new ideas in the works for you?

VMB: I was excited that my publisher decided to expand this series to five books (so far). So, I’m excited to get to write more of Lilly and Aggie’s story. I love that Lilly is becoming more comfortable in Chattanooga. She is making friends with other members of the Dog Club and at her job. I’m exciting to see her pack expand.

LKBR: Have you ever gotten reader’s block? Find it hard to get into reading because you are so into your writing?

VMB: I don’t read much while I’m writing. I use reading for pleasure as a reward for hitting my daily writing goals. If I hit my goal (1,000- 1,500 words per day) then I will give myself permission to read. Sometimes, I don’t want to read new books while I’m writing, but I enjoy rereading my favorite authors (eg Agatha Christie).

LKBR: Are there any magazines/publications that as a writer you subscribe to? Are these or others something readers could also benefit from?

VMB: I love short stories and I admire writers who are able to write short fiction. I enjoy Alfred Hitchcock and Ellery Queen Magazines. I also enjoy, The Strand Magazine, Crime Reads and Between the Chapter’s, Kensington’s Newsletter.

LKBR: If you could ask your readers 3 questions, what would they be?

VMB: 1) Should Lilly Echosby find love or enjoy the single life?

            2) What keeps you coming back to a cozy series for more?

            3) Should Lilly get another dog? Or a cat?

LKBR: Where can readers go to learn more about you and your books?

VMB: Website: https://www.vmburns.com
             Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/vmburnsbooks/
             Twitter: https://twitter.com/vmburns

LKBR: Thank you so much for letting us get to know you better!

VMB: Thank you so much for hosting me today. I had a wonderful time and appreciate the opportunity to talk about my books.

MY REVIEW

In THE PUPPY WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, V.M. Burns has penned an entertaining whodunit that will leave readers begging for more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. With wonderful characters both human and canine, I quickly felt like I had known them all for some time. And it was a lot of fun to see the dogs playing a part in solving the case.

A great plot and a complex mystery, I found it very hard to put this book down. I kept telling myself, just one more page. One more chapter. Well, I’m sure you know how that worked out. I didn’t let it out of my sight until I had finished.

Pick up a copy of, THE PUPPY WHO KNEW TOO MUCH. You’re going to be happy you did.
