EAVES OF DESTRUCTION
is book 5 in the Fixer-Upper Mysteries

Murder is on the to-do list when construction contractor Shannon Hammer looks for a killer in the fifth Fixer-Upper Mystery....
At the annual Victorian Home and Garden Tour, Lighthouse Cove, California’s premier contractor, Shannon Hammer, realizes that the competition is about to turn deadly....

Shannon is in high demand among rival homeowners, who will do anything to win Best in Show. One-upmanship and even espionage break out among neighbors, construction crews, decorators, and landscapers. Thanks to several new hires, Shannon is sure she can handle the extra load—until murder throws a wrench in the works.

The small town’s corrupt building inspector is found dead on one of Shannon’s jobsites, and soon plenty of suspects are coming out of the woodwork. When another body is discovered, Shannon calls on her team of close friends and devilishly astute thriller writer Mac to help her nail down the details and build a case against the killer before the door shuts on someone else—for good.

Be Brave
by Kate Carlisle

By today's standards, people in Victorian times were quite rigid in their morals and their dress, but there was one area where they let go of all their inhibitions—when painting their homes. People today who own Victorian homes need to be just as brave in order to do justice to these architectural beauties.

Look at those colors! Imagine standing in the paint aisle of the home improvement store. Would you be brave enough to choose these colors? Would you be brave enough to choose Pepto Bismol pink, as in the photo below? It's completely charming, but I just don't think I'd have the guts. I'd need professional design help to make this leap.

Shannon Hammer, Victorian home contractor extraordinaire and heroine of my Fixer-Upper Mystery series, has lots of experience being brave. She encourages clients to step out of their comfort zones, making Lighthouse Cove one of the most charming small towns along the northern California coast.

In Eaves of Destruction, the latest Fixer-Upper Mystery, Shannon has been hired to renovate two gorgeous Victorians on prestigious Cranberry Circle. The homeowners are next-door neighbors and bitter rivals, both determined to win Best in Show on the annual Victorian Home and Garden Tour. . . at any cost. Shannon plans to remain completely neutral and do her best work for both clients—until a crooked building inspector turns up dead at one of her job sites. She'll be brave, then, too. She'll hitch up her tool belt, search for clues, and nab the killer!
Visit the Secret Room at KateCarlisle.com for my free offer, a glossy trifold map of Lighthouse Cove, or a downloadable PDF. That way, you can follow along with the action in my books – and in the Fixer-Upper Mystery movies on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, starring Jewel and Colin Ferguson!

Do you like the Victorian style of home, or is it too ornate for you? Do you think you'd be brave enough to choose colors that would make it stand out from the crowd?

  1. Thanks, Lisa. I love touring old Victorian homes but I’d never be able to afford one. Enjoy your Saturday!

    1. I love Victorians, too, Patricia. Even though I don't have one, it's enough to be able to walk around and admire them. :)

  2. Thank you so much for hosting me here today, Lisa! I appreciate you telling your followers about EAVES OF DESTRUCTION. I'm very excited about this book! The idea of two homeowners competing for Best of Show in a Home & Garden Show is just so much fun. As soon as the thought popped into my head, I knew we had a winner! :)
