CHOCOLATE IS FOREVER
by Maida Heatter

From simple sweets to complex confections, create dazzling desserts with this beautifully illustrated chocolate cookbook from a baking "legend" (New Yorker).

Maida Heatter is one of the most trusted and beloved cookbook authors of all time. Her recipes, each a modern classic, have inspired extraordinary bakers such as Dorie Greenspan, Christina Tosi, and David Lebovitz, whose foreword introduces the joy of baking with Maida to a new generation.

Throughout Maida's nearly 50-year career as a "genius" of baking (New York Times), one thing was constant: her passion for chocolate. She created hundreds of recipes for chocolate cakes, puddings, pies, cookies, and more. Now, Chocolate Is Forever collects her very best, most irresistibly chocolatey delights-including The World's Best Hot Fudge Sauce.

Developed for foolproof baking by anyone, each of these nearly 100 recipes is written with Maida's warm but no-nonsense instructions and carries her guarantee that it will work perfectly every time. With recipes ranging from simple cupcakes and fudgy brownies to decadent flourless cakes, this book is a must-have in every chocolate-lover's kitchen.

Chocolate. Need I really say more? There was no way I was going to pass up the chance to read this book, and I’m very happy I didn’t.

Even before getting into the amazing recipes, and there are many, author Maida Heatter schools readers in what to do before we bake with things like the ingredients, equipment, and techniques, giving us a well thought out insight into making the best chocolate creations we can.

As for those creations, these recipes had me drooling while reading the book, and writing this review. Recipes like . . . Chocolate Intrigue, Old-Fashioned Fudge Cake, Queen Mother’s Cake, The Newest Cheesecake, Dolly’s Crisp Toffee Bars, Chocolate Almond Sp-Icebox Cake, Bittersweet Chocolate Biscotti, Chocolate Pecan Pie, Black Bottom Pie, Frozen Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Raisin Clusters, Homemade Chocolate Syrup (And 19 Drinks and Variations) and a whole lot more!

My one disappointment with CHOCOLATE IS FOREVER, is that instead of photos of these amazing creations, there are illustrations. While they are fun and colorful, real photos would have made this book irresistible to all but those with chocolate allergies.
