by Cindy Bell

With the victims piling up will Joyce and Brenda stay alive long enough to solve the murder?

Joyce and Brenda are enjoying running their newly opened donut truck, ‘Donuts on the Move’. They love working together and despite a few hiccups things are running along smoothly.

That is until business comes to a grinding halt when the owner of the hot dog truck is found murdered. Wanting the murder solved as quickly as possible so justice can be served and business on Green Street can return to normal, the friends decide to do a little digging of their own.

But things go from bad to worse when it looks like the murderer is targeting the food truck owners on Green Street. It is a race against the clock to find the killer before Joyce and Brenda become the next victims.

Directions:

Prepare a baking tray by oiling it and set aside. Line another baking tray with paper towels and set aside.

Heat the milk until warm. Put the warm milk, sugar and yeast in a bowl and leave aside until the mixture starts frothing. This should take about 10 - 15 minutes.

Melt the butter and leave aside to cool.

Add the butter, salt, egg yolks, flour, nutmeg and vanilla extract to the milk and yeast mixture and mix until combined.

With lightly floured hands knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.

Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap.

Leave in a warm place for about an hour until almost doubled in size.

On a floured surface punch back the dough then knead until smooth.

Using a floured rolling pin roll the dough to about half an inch thick and then using a donut cutter cut out the donuts.

Take the off-cuts and roll again and cut. It should makes about 12 donut holes and donuts. Place the donuts on the oiled baking rack.

Cover with plastic wraps and leave is a warm area for about 30 minutes until almost doubled in size.

Using a deep fryer or Dutch oven heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahenheit. Use a deep-fry thermometer to check the temperature if using a Dutch oven.

Fry the donuts and donut holes in batches. Fry for about a minute on each side until golden brown. Put the donuts on the paper lined baking tray and cool slightly.

For the glaze melt the chocolate preferably in a double boiler.

When the chocolate is melted add the confectioners' sugar, milk and vanilla extract and whisk vigorously until well combined.

If the mixture is too thick gradually add a bit more milk until it is the right consistency.

When it is at the right consistency leave it aside to cool slightly.

Dip the tops of the donuts into the glazes, them dip them into the sprinkle.

Leave on a place to set.

   Enjoy!

My Book Beginnings

Sunlight shimmered across the smooth shiny surfaces of the tall buildings and peeked its way down on long city streets. On Green Street, the sound of creaking hinges filled the air, and the aroma of delicious food had already begun to overcome the fumes of the city traffic.
