BOOK TOUR

I'm so happy to be a stop on the book tour for
MEMORIES AND MURDER
Book 10 in the Tourist Trap Mysteries
by Lynn Cahoon

It’s October in South Cove, California, and the locals in the quaint resort seem to be happily pairing off in the lull before the holidays. Everyone, that is, except for Jill Gardner’s elderly aunt, who just dumped her besotted fiancΓ©—and she won’t say why.

When Jill hosts a talk at Coffee, Books, and More on the topic of elder abuse, all that’s really on her mind is lunch. But the topic hits close to home when she discovers Aunt Jackie has been getting mysterious calls. Jill’s certain the caller is a con artist, of course, but her feisty aunt claims to understand this, though she’s still shaken—and Harrold’s still heartbroken. Who’s behind the scam and why was her aunt targeted? When a volunteer from the Senior Project is found murdered, Jill’s detective boyfriend is on the case—and it soon becomes clear no one is safe when a caller from beyond becomes a killer in their midst.

A WORD WITH LYNN CAHOON

LKBR:  Thank you for being here today, Lynn!

LC: Thanks for having me over again, Lisa! I love being here for your readers.

LKBR: Please tell us a bit about you, and your book/series.

LC: I’ve been writing for over ten years now – published in mystery since 2014 – so this was my five-year anniversary.  Tourist Trap – was my first series with Kensington and it’s still going strong. Jill, Greg, Amy, and Aunt Jackie have become like family to me. Memories and Murder answers a few questions left hanging at the end of Killer Party as well as looks at the Mission Wall mystery in Jill’s back yard.

Official bio - NYT and USA Today bestselling and award-winning author, Lynn Cahoon, pens several cozy mystery series. The Tourist Trap series is set in central coastal California includes nine, soon to be ten, novels with six holiday novellas. She also pens the Cat Latimer series (set in Colorado) available in mass market paperback. The Farm to Fork mystery series is set in her home state of Idaho. No matter where the mystery is set, readers can expect a fun ride. She lives in a small town like the ones she loves to write about with her husband and three fur babies. LKBR: Any hints or spoilers you can give us about your next book?

LC: Murder in Waiting (#11) is already written and will release in 2020. Amy’s engaged and is turning into a bridezilla. And the gang goes to Vegas for a bachelorette party while Jill’s trying to solve a murder.

LKBR: Have you ever written a scene that you loved but had to remove it for the sake of the story?

LC: I’ve had to adjust scenes because either they didn’t do anything or they led down the wrong path. But typically since I’m a pantser, the story flows how it’s supposed to flow.

LKBR: Have you ever gotten reader’s block? Just find it hard to get into reading because you are so into your writing?

LC: I have reader’s time block. Mostly because I work on the computer during the week and when I’m writing, so by the time I’m ready to relax, my eyes won’t focus on the printed word. Then I get my story fix from television.  Binging old Supernatural shows currently.

LKBR: Are there any magazines/publications that as a writer you subscribe to? Are these or others something readers could also benefit from?

LC: I’ve stopped my magazine subscriptions due to lack of time. I also don’t watch/read most news stories. I get a top 6 overview from CNN in my email and the rest I get from Facebook. You’d be surprised how much news I can glean from Facebook posts. If I want more, I Google it.

LKBR: Is there anything you would give up if you thought it would make you an even better writer?

LC: Dieting? Working out? The hard stuff I need to do?  But no, probably not. I rarely take time for myself now, so it’s something I have to force myself to set the writing down at least at times. And hope I don’t feel guilty.

LKBR: Any new projects in the works?

LC: Always.  I’m currently writing a light paranormal cozy mystery for Kensington. Think Bewitched meets Supernatural, all set in a Hallmark movie. 😊  And my agent is shopping a new series (non-cozy) that I’d love to write.

LKBR: If you could ask your readers 3 questions, what would they be?

LC: Digital or print? How do you find new authors? Can you share your love for my series to another mystery reader?

LKBR: Where can readers go to learn more about you and your books?

LC: Thanks for inviting me. I so enjoy getting to know the book bloggers and their readership.
