BOOK TOUR

I'm so happy to be a stop on the book tour for
A FIELD GUIDE TO HOMICIDE
Book 6 in the Cat Latimer Mysteries
by Lynn Cahoon

Cat Latimer and her writer’s retreat group go on a hiking trip—but a murderer has been lurking off the beaten path . . .

Cat’s sweetheart, Seth, is going all out on an outing into the local mountains—for the benefit of the writing group Cat’s hosting at her Colorado B&B. But when they try to identify some plant and animal life, they find death instead. The body belongs to a man with a gold claim a few miles away. Instead of striking it rich, he’s been struck down.

To his surprise, Seth recognizes the victim from his military days—and up to now believed he’d already died during his last tour of duty. Now Cat has to solve this mystery before the killer takes a hike . . .

An Chat With Lynn

LKBR:  Thank you for being here today, Lynn!

LC: Hi Lisa!  So glad to be visiting again.

LKBR: Please tell us a bit about you, and A FIELD GUIDE TO HOMICIDE book 6 of the Cat Latimer series.

LC: I’m a cozy mystery author who currently lives in the historic St. Louis area. A FIELD GUIDE TO HOMICIDE is book 6 in the Cat Latimer mystery series. I love this series as there are three main characters (well, four, with Uncle Pete) that are in most scenes.  And it being a small Colorado college town, it’s just where I want to live. In Field Guide, Seth takes a group of writers on a hike to the mountain trail nearby.  And they find a body….

LKBR: Any hints or spoilers you can give us about your next book?

LC: This book? Or DEEP FRIED REVENGE – Coming April 2020. I loved writing this Farm to Fork book mostly because of my unnaturally strong love for corn dogs.  J  You have to read the book.

LKBR: Have you ever written a scene that you loved but had to remove it for the sake of the story?

LC: No, I guess I don’t write that way. I’m pretty linear in my writing and my thought process. If I take out a scene in the middle, it affects the rest of the book. Or if I add something mid-stream, I need to make sure I follow it through. I’m just not a scene by scene writer. I let the characters lead me down the path they want to go.

LKBR: Have you ever gotten reader’s block? Just find it hard to get into reading because you are so into your writing?

LC: I love reading so my writing time doesn’t affect it. My day job time, unfortunately, does affect my reading time. But I listen to audio books as I’m driving so I get a bit of story at least five days a week.

LKBR: Are there any magazines/publications that as a writer you subscribe to? Are these or others something readers could also benefit from?

LC: Honestly, I don’t subscribe to any magazines anymore. If it’s not sent to me as part of a membership (AARP/MWA-mystery writers) I don’t get magazines. My friend is always giving me People mags that she’s bought on trips. I don’t like the short article format.

LKBR: Is there anything you would give up if you thought it would make you an even better writer?

LC : Sleep? No, I wouldn’t give that up. I need my 8 hours to make it through the day. I do limit my television watching. I took a break from those limits over Christmas so now I have to re-break that habit. And, Project Runway just started. I told myself I can only watch that day IF I have my word count done.

LKBR: Any new projects in the works?

LC: Always. LOL  I have a new Farm to Fork book I’m writing now (releasing 2021) and next up is a new Tourist Trap (full – releasing 2021.) Them I’m back to my NEW series (that also releases 2021) and writing the second book in this light paranormal culinary cozy series.

LKBR: If you could ask your readers 3 questions, what would they be?

LC: What do you LOVE to read? Why do you pre-order specific authors? And What’s missing from your cozy TBR pile?

LKBR: Where can readers go to learn more about you and your books?

LC:
Media links.

LKBR: Thank you so much, Lynn for letting us get to know you better!

LC: You’re most welcome. Looking forward to seeing you again.

LKBR: Same here.
