by Tonya Kappes

Beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes clear to the bone. And doesn’t our Sheriff Kenni Lowry know that? Well, she knows a lot of things.
Lucy Lowell takes great pride in writing negative reviews in the local newspaper for anything that does not go her way. When Lucy is found dead, it appears to be from natural causes.
But Sheriff Kenni Lowry knows there is more to it because the ghost of her grandfather, the ex-sheriff, is standing over the body. His presence can only mean one thing: Murder!
Since Kenni’s relationship with Deputy Finn Vincent has heated up, Kenni is having trouble conducting the investigation without Finn questioning her every move.
Can Kenni unravel the mystery on her own or will she have to tell Finn the real reason she knows it was murder—the ghost of her poppa?
It’s blowin’ up a storm and only Kenni knows how it’ll end.

Today's Spotlight is on
Book 1 in the Remington Mansion Mysteries
by Maureen Driscoll
A time-travel romance/cozy mystery series

THE TYCOON MURDERER is the first book in a new time-travel romance/cozy mystery series set in the Pacific Northwest.

When Josie Matthews buys a Victorian mansion with a notorious past, she hopes to turn it into a successful inn. While she expects all the headaches of renovating an old house, she isn't prepared to be sent back in time to the site of a double-murder which occurred at the mansion in 1929. While the murders were never solved, they were believed to have been committed by Wall Street financier, David Remington, forever known as the Tycoon Murderer.

At the height of the Roaring Twenties, David Remington has invited several friends and acquaintances to a house party, including a Chicago bootlegger and his moll, a Broadway playwright and his best friend, a corrupt U.S. Senator and his wife, a handsome silent screen star and a disgruntled federal agent. After a mysterious woman arrives uninvited, guests start dying one-by-one, making everyone wonder who will be next.

Determined to solve the murders before being sent back to her own time, Josie investigates the crimes and tries not to be the next victim. But the biggest mystery is whether David Remington was falsely accused or whether he truly is the Tycoon Murderer.

THE TYCOON MURDERER is a time-travel romance/cozy mystery with a retro flair. It contains mild violence, humor and a great deal of bootleg booze.

Maureen Driscoll is an Emmy-nominated writer, whose credits include MADtv, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Nickelodeon’s BrainSurge.  After 15 Regency Romance novels, she has written her first cozy mystery, THE TYCOON MURDERER.  It’s sort of like what would happen if Bridget Jones found herself in an Agatha Christie novel.  Please find Maureen on FB at Maureen Driscoll Author; on Twitter @MaureenDriscoll; and on her neglected blog

Cozy Food Friday

That means it's time to share a recipe from
another great cozy mystery!

Book 5 in Cookies & Chance Mysteries
by Catherine Bruns

From USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bruns comes another to-die-for culinary mystery...

Full-time baker and sometime-sleuth Sally Muccio is enjoying life as a new bride and only wishes that sales in her bakery would pick up. So when popular TV host Donna Dooley invites her and best friend, Josie, to be guests on Someone's in the Kitchen with Donna, it’s the answer to their prayers. The pair is excited about the opportunity until they discover Donna's new assistant is none other than Josie's former nemesis from culinary school, Kelly Thompson.

Like cookies in a hot oven, temperatures rise, and their animosity escalates into a food fight during the taping—which then goes viral! But when a dead body is then discovered on the set, fingers immediately point to Josie, and Sal's usual sassy partner is at a loss of how to defend herself. Sal's world is once again plunged into chaos as she attempts to keep her friend out of jail, control a blast from the past that threatens to harm her marriage, and keep her crazy parents at bay as they film a commercial for a funeral home. Already knee deep in dough, Sal discovers a possible link between the current murder and an unsolved one from the past. But she’ll have to work fast because a killer is on her trail and determined to silence Sal...forever.

Josie stood at the front window of the bakery, hands perched on her hips as she stared out at the dismal January day. "Did you win Publishers Clearing House and forget to tell me about it, Sal?"

Panic seared through my body. I stared at Sam, expecting him to come to my defense, but he remained silent. Thanks a lot.

The Ultimate Guide
By Bridgette Conners

French macarons are a delicate cookie, made with sugar and egg whites and baked at a very low temperature to remain soft and chewy. The recipes found in this book will help you create macarons that melt in your mouth, a delicious confection and the true art of french pastries. We have collected the most delicious and best selling recipes from around the world. Enjoy!

I love to bake. I’m mainly a cupcake girl. But I have always loved the look of macarons. They’re so beautiful. The colors alone are tempting. But, I have to be honest. I’ve never tasted one let alone make one. So I was thrilled when I saw this book!

Once the title, and subject of a cookbook draws me in, the next thing I look for are photos. There are no photos in this book. That totally bums me out because the photos could have been so colorful, and beautiful. Now, I have the book on Kindle copy. It also sells in paperback, so maybe the print book has photos.

Once I got over my lack-of-photo disappointment, I got into the recipes. 99 recipes to be exact. It starts with a basic batter recipe. What follows are macaron combinations that I never expected. Along with your typical flavors like chocolate, you’ll find Salted Pretzel with Chocolate Ganache, Banana and White Chocolate, Violet with Violet and Vanilla Bean Buttercream, Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese, Cracked Pepper, Mint and Strawberry, Lime and Basil, Pear and Elderflower, Lychee, Champagne and Roses, Dandelion, Candy Corn, Ketchup, Cayenne Pepper, Tomato Vanilla and so many more! There are also recipes for many different fillings!

MACARON RECIPES: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE, has taken away my fear of baking macarons. And knowing that any flavor combination can be made, will, I’m ready to get the flour flying!

Bringing up baby--Bringing down a killer

An over the top, good-time cozy mystery

While staking out a cheating husband, Kate can't help but to indulge the cravings from her newest pregnancy. Little does she know the owner of the bakery has her eyes on Jim, Kate's beloved husband. Things turn deadly as Kate's cravings take over. It's up to Kate to keep her Family Life on track while solving another deadly whodunit!

Some experts say the honeymoon phase of a marriage lasts for about six months, but they didn’t take murder into account!

When the county judge is murdered and Kat’s District Attorney husband of far less than six months, is not only a suspect, but now the lead attorney in another murder case, Kat has to find the killer to clear his name.

Who knew the judge was addicted to watching computer porn? But was that the reason he was murdered?
Was the killer the judge’s “unusual” wife who spent millions building a castle in the middle of Kansas and then filling the moat around the castle with alligators? Or the head of Mothers Against Pornography Addiction? Could it have been the woman who was having an affair with the judge? Or her husband? After all, he did attend Rageaholics meetings. Or even the young sorority girl who was making a lot of money appearing on porn sites?

Sometimes a guard dog is just as important as a former Green Beret, and Kat was grateful to both of them when they saved her life!

Getting used to life back home in Deer Park, North Carolina, Sydney McCall and her right-hand tabby, Toby, are helping her sister Kat run the local animal shelter. Syd and Kat are all excited about the prospect of the shelter’s newest fundraiser: shopping channel queen Ulla Townsend. Shelter admin Maggie Shayne vehemently refuses to have anything to do with the woman, but the fundraiser ensues as planned. That is, until Ulla turns up dead in the middle of the event.

The cause of death is determined to be an allergic reaction, but Syd and Toby are sniffing out something fishy. When Syd met Ulla, it was clear she was distasteful and rude. And right before the event, Syd spotted some behind-the-scenes drama between Ulla and her manager. As they begin to investigate, they realize there is no shortage of suspects, and Maggie is at the top of the list.

Now Syd and Toby must claw their way to the truth before everything goes paws up at their animal shelter in Death by a Whisker by national bestselling author T. C. LoTempio.

When Jayne Wilson’s mother is accused of murder, Jayne and Gemma have to eliminate the impossible to reveal the true killer.

Legendary stage and movie star Sir Nigel Bellingham arrives on Cape Cod to star in a stage production of The Hound of the Baskervilles put on by the West London Theater Festival. When Sir Nigel, some of the cast, and the director visit the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop at 222 Baker Street, Gemma Doyle realizes that Sir Nigel is not at all suited to the role. He is long past his prime and an old drunk to boot. The cast, in particular the much younger actor who previously had the role, are not happy, but the show must go on.

Before the play opens, Leslie Wilson, mother of Gemma’s best friend Jayne, arranges a fundraising afternoon tea to be catered by Mrs. Hudson’s Tea Room. The tea is a huge success, but when it’s time to leave, Sir Nigel has gone missing—only to be found at the bottom of the rocky cliff, dead. Along with the dead body, Gemma finds evidence incriminating Leslie Wilson. When the police, in the presence of handsome detective Ryan Ashburton and suspicious detective Louise Estrada, focus their attention on Leslie despite the numerous other suspects, the game is once again afoot and it’s again up to the highly perceptive Gemma and the ever-confused but loyal Jayne to clear Jayne’s mother’s name.
