Welcome to week 5 of the
THREE AMIGOS SUMMER READING CLUB
with Bloggers Mary Brown, Karen M. Owen, and yours truly!

Every Monday from now through August 28,
Mary, Karen, and I
will recommend some of our favorite cozy mystery titles in eleven (11) different categories!

Today our theme is
B&B
aka
Bed-and-Breakfast

We're recommending 3 books that feature a
Bed & Breakfast that really stands out to each of us.

My pick for favorite cozy with a B&B is
HEARSE AND BUGGY
#1 in the Amish Mysteries
by Laura Bradford

Fallen Snow
Claire Weatherly has fled a high-stress lifestyle for a slower pace—in Amish country: Heavenly, Pennsylvania. She only planned a short visit but instead found herself opening an Amish specialty shop, Heavenly Treasures, and settling in.Claire loves her new home, and she’s slowly making friends among the locals, including Esther, a young Amish woman who works in the shop. So when the store’s former owner, the unlikable Walter Snow, is murdered, and the man Esther is sweet on becomes a suspect, Claire can’t help but get involved.
Newly returned Detective Jakob Fisher, who left Heavenly—and his Amish upbringing—as a teenager, is on the case. But his investigation is stalled by the fact that none of his former community will speak with him. Claire’s connections make her the perfect go-between.
As Claire investigates, she uncovers more than she wanted to know about her neighbors. And suddenly, everything she had hoped to find in this peaceful refuge is at risk . . .
When I first "walked into" the Sleep Heavenly bed-and-breakfast I immediately felt as though I had come home.

Diane Weatherly, aunt to series protagonist, Clare Weatherly, is the owner of the Sleep Heavenly. She runs her B&B like a home, not a business. She welcomes every guest as a friend.

I can imagine each quaint bedroom, the comfy front room for reading, visiting and chatting, the dining room where Aunt Diane serves her amazing down home meals (I can smell the fresh biscuits), her charming kitchen, and the perfect front porch filled with chairs, and a porch swing, overlooking the stunning Pennsylvania Amish farmland and fields.

Oh my goodness, I wish I could be there now. Just writing about it makes me feel relaxed.
The Sleep Heavenly isn't just in HEARSE AND BUGGY, you'll spend time there in each of Laura Bradford's Amish Mysteries.

You'll fall in love with everything about this series!

  4. I really enjoyed the books that I got to read in the Amish Mystery series. After having been in Lancaster County a number of times I became very interested in the Amish books and found Laura's to be excellent. The blog brought back such pleasant memories of our trips too. Thank you ladies for the trip down Memory Lane. ]
