BOOK TOUR

I'm thrilled to be a stop on the
blog tour for author
Terrie Farley Moran
and her new book
READ TO DEATH
Book 3 in the Read 'Em And Eat Mysteries

The national bestselling author of Caught Read-Handed revisits Fort Myers Beach, Florida, where the proprietors of a local bookstore café occasionally take a stab at solving murder...

At their seaside Read ‘Em and Eat bookstore café, Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield offer fresh scones, great books, and excellent detective work…

With their book club season wrapping up with The Florida Life of Thomas Edison, Sassy and Bridgy decide to take their group on a day trip to the beautiful Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Hiring driver Oscar Frieland, who’s known for his colorful stories  and love of the café’s Robert Frost fruit tartlets, the bibliophiles set off for a day of sunshine and history.

After a lovely excursion, the club returns to the café for lunch and a book discussion, but the group falls silent after Oscar is found dead in his van. The sheriff’s deputies have some questions of their own for the group, and if the ladies don’t find some answers soon, the next book they read might be from a prison library.

Now a word from author
Terrie Farley Moran!

I am delighted to be back here at Lisa K’s Book Reviews to talk about the third book in the Read ’Em and Eat Cozy Mystery Series. It seems like only yesterday we were talking about Well Read, Then Dead and then Caught Read-Handed. Well, now it is time to catch up with all the chaotic goings on in Read to Death.

As proprietors of the Read ’Em and Eat cafe and bookstore in the welcoming, touristy town of Fort Myers Beach Florida, Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield know a thing or two about snowbirds.

Anyone who has experimented with heading south for the winter will tell you that the best thing about snowbirding is that you get to live a temporary life in a place where the weather is warm and sunny all winter long. You meet and hang out with new and different people, some of whom may become your lifelong friends. The most difficult part of snowbird life is that when the season ends, you have to say goodbye to your new friends and you may never see many of them again. It’s just part of life’s pluses and minuses on the snowbird circuit, which makes end of season festivities a huge part of the seasonal plans.

Things are no different at the Read ’Em and Eat Café and Book Store in Fort Myers Beach where both seasonal and year round residents attend the Cool Reads/Warm Climate Book Club. As their end-of-season treat for the club members, café owners Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield arrange for a short trip off –island to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates where Thomas Edison and Henry Ford spent their winters a century ago.

The club members are fascinated by the beauty of the estates and the experiments that Edison conducted in his Florida laboratory but bus driver Oscar Frieland thinks that the Fort Myers is trying to steal the glory that rightfully belongs to his home state of New Jersey and there is a lot of banter between Oscar and the club members.

Still, the outing is a huge success until, oops, Oscar is murdered in the parking lot of the Read ’Em and Eat and Bridgy just might be the major suspect. Can Sassy and Bridgy get this all straightened out before Lieutenant Frank Anthony hustles Bridgy off to jail? We’ll see!

MY REVIEW

Having long anticipated this third book in the Read ‘Em And Eat Mysteries, I was thrilled to see author Terrie Farley Moran did not disappoint!

I have adored this series since the since chapter one of the first book, WELL READ, THEN DEAD. Author Moran has a writing style that is so light and fluid, reading her stories is a pure joy.

I was ecstatic to be back in Florida and the Read ‘Em And Eat bookstore café with Sassy and Bridgy, and all the wonderful characters in this amazing series. As with the two books before, READ TO DEATH was a fun, and exciting mystery that I couldn’t put down! The plot for this story was so extremely well done. It pulled me in and kept me captivated as I tried to guess the who and why.

You need to add READ TO DEATH to your reading list! And if you haven’t already, get the first two books as well. You will not be sorry!

Take a peek in the back of the book and you’ll find a savory, and a sweet recipe sure to my your tummy growl!

GOOD LUCK!
