CATCH AS CAT CAN by Claire Donally
HEARSE AND GARDENS by Kathleen Bridge
NEWLYWED DEAD by Nancy J. Parra

CATCH AS CAT CAN
Book 5 in the Sunny & Shadow Mysteries
by Claire Donally

The new Sunny and Shadow mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of Hiss and Tell and Last Licks.

When a new seafood shop opens in Kittery Harbor, Maine, Sunny’s tomcat Shadow is on the hunt for tasty treats—until Sunny discovers a cold-blooded killer’s catch of the day.

Neil Garret is new to town, but his seafood shop is already going belly up. Working next door, former reporter Sunny Coolidge can’t help noticing the telltale signs. But checking on Neil one morning reveals something far worse for business than a lack of inventory—a mysterious man lies murdered in his freezer.

Sunny’s boyfriend, Chief Investigator Will Price, nets Neil as the prime suspect. But even when Sunny learns about Neil’s secret past, the open-and-shut case seems fishy. Now it’s up to Sunny to find the real culprit and get Neil off the hook.

MY REVIEW

Another enjoyable tale from author Claire Donally.

Fans of kitty cozies are really going to like the Sunny & Shadow Mysteries. Not only does the series follow protagonist Sunny, readers also get to hear cat Shadow’s thoughts on things. It’s a fun twist for a series to let us in on what the pet is thinking.

CATCH AS CAT CAN is another delightful installment to the Sunny & Shadow series. With a well written and thoughts out plot, I second guessed myself a couple of times before I made it to the reveal. (I was still wrong)

Sunny & Shadow fans are in for a real cat treat with CATCH AS CAT CAN!

HEARSE AND GARDENS
Book 2 in the Hamptons Home & Garden Mysteries by Kathleen Bridge

A Hamptons interior designer deals with skeletons in the closet in the new mystery from the national bestelling author of Better Homes and Corpses.

To keep her mind off the legal battle over the oceanfront cottage she’s trying to buy, Meg agrees to help her friend inventory and clear out furniture from the massive Montauk estate of wealthy art broker Harrison Falks. But the job takes a terrifying turn when Meg discovers a skeleton in a hidden room in one of the estate’s many bungalows. The remains turn out to be those of Harrison’s son, who went missing nearly twenty years ago—along with one of his father’s Warhol paintings.

As Meg delves into the Hamptons’ pop art past, she gets drawn into the sketchy goings-on and family drama at the estate. But when Meg makes no bones about solving the crime, she just might become the subject of the killer’s next installation.

MY REVIEW

Author Kathleen Bridge is proving to be an exciting voice in cozy mysteries.

HEARSE AND GARDENS is written with the same enjoyable mix of mystery, action, and humor as Bridge’s first Hamptons Home & Gardens installment, BETTER HOMES AND CORPSES.

The characters in this series are wonderfully layered, and eclectic. Series lead, Meg Barrett, is hearing impaired, but this does not stop her from getting into the thick of things, and holding her own…and then some!

My favorite parts of both book in this series is going on antique, and up cycling hunts with Meg and her friend Elle. If I could come across the amazing treasures the do (with the exception of dead bodies), I’d be out there searching every day!

With her fluid writing, sense of timing, and superb way with descriptions, author Bridge’s series is one you will want to add to your bookshelves!

The back of this book has some great decorating tips, and yummy recipes!

NEWLYWED DEAD
Book 3 in the Perfect Proposals Mysteries
by Nancy J. Parra

In the new Perfect Proposals mystery from the author of Bodice of Evidence and Engaged in Murder, a country club wedding reception becomes the scene of a baffling crime.

The wedding for Pepper Pomeroy’s sister Felicity starts with dearly beloved but it ends with dearly departed when Ashley, the bartender Pepper befriended earlier in the evening, drops dead from a lethal nightcap. Authorities think it’s just a tragic accident. After all, who’d want to kill a virtual stranger at a country club wedding reception? That’s what Pepper wants to know.

A search into Ashley’s past reveals a twisty path of secret sororities, well-connected enemies, and an unsolved slaying still shadowing members of high society—including a filthy-rich battle-ax whose demands for the services of Pepper’s Perfect Proposals are starting to sound more like veiled threats. Pepper’s business may be booming but continued success means outsmarting a mysterious culprit who’s still wedded to the idea of murder.

MY REVIEW

Say I do to NEWLYWED DEAD, an engaging mystery, and a perfect marriage with the other books in this series.

Someone dying at a wedding reception is an awful thing. Well, in real life it would be. But for a mystery novel, not only is it perfect, it’s practically mandatory.

Well written from beginning to end, NEWLYWED DEAD is a fast moving page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation until the wonderful conclusion.

I propose you pick up a copy of NEWLYWED DEAD, and prepare for a honeymoon of a good time.

Check out the back of the book for a sample wedding menu!
