BOOK TOUR

I'm so excited to get to be a stop on the book tour for
DIE A YELLOW RIBBON
Book 9 in the Pecan Bayou Mysteries
by Teresa Trent

Betsy Fitzpatrick, a local helpful hints columnist, feels she has found her own personal guru after reading a book on organizing. Her beloved town of Pecan Bayou is competing in the Annual Golden Pecan Treasure Hunt in the suffocating heat of a Texas summer. The prize is a cruise out of Galveston, and Betsy's husband Leo is looking forward to a little alone time with his wife, if they can only win it. After a curious accident and an unsolved murder, Betsy finds it takes more than a precision sock drawer to spark her joy. No matter how neat and organized it might be, murder is always messy. Die a Yellow Ribbon features the cast of loveable characters from Pecan Bayou including Ruby Green from The Best Little Hairhouse in Texas, Mrs. Thatcher the dispatcher, and Lester Jibbets the port-a-potty king. Come along and follow the clues to find the Golden Pecan.
Recipes and helpful hints included!

Why Tidying Up Was Such an Easy Theme for Die a Yellow Ribbon

Thank you so much for letting me visit today! My principal character, Betsy, also known as The Happy Hinter, has been transformed by a book in Die a Yellow Ribbon. Has that ever happened to you? It happened for me when I read Marie Kondo's Tidying Up.

Here's how I learned about it. Gilmore Girls. I love Gilmore Girls and was excited to see the Netflix Series A Year in the Life. Lorelei's mother Emily was throwing everything in her luxurious home in the middle of the floor saying to herself, "Does it spark joy?".

That got me to thinking about my overstuffed sock drawer. Did it give me joy? No. I read the book Emily had used to change her life, and it changed mine as well. For a little while, anyway. I went through closets, drawers, under car seats, toy chests. NOTHING was off limits. It took me a week to do the kitchen.

A year or so later, as I dug through my overflowing drawers, I realized I'd fallen off from the folding methods in Tidying Up and thought about Betsy. She loves life hacks and Marie Kondo is the absolute queen. What if her changed organizational patterns affected everyone? She has two teenage boys at this point and if you've ever tried to organize a teenage boy, you might know what I'm talking about. It was a perfect point of conflict. What if you applied these principles to solving a murder? Murder is never organized and always messy. Not only did it work for crime solving, but for looking at parenting in general. You can't stop your kids from growing independent of you and your rules no matter how hard you try.

Is there a perfect system to rid you of life's messy problems? Probably not, but in Die a Yellow Ribbon, Betsy is trying to take it to the next level.

Die a Yellow Ribbon is free on Kindle until June 19
