THE CANDY CANE CUPCAKE KILLER by Livia J. Washburn
TRIMMED WITH MURDER by Sally Goldenbaum

THE CANDY CANE CUPCAKE KILLER
Book 10 in the Fresh Baked Mystery series
by
Livia J. Washburn

In the latest from the national bestselling author of Trick or Deadly Treat, Phyllis Newsom returns with a festive Christmas recipe that’s to die for…

‘Tis the season in Weatherford, Texas, and everyone in town is gearing up for the annual holiday parade and tree-lighting ceremony in the town square, where Phyllis Newsom will be serving her much-anticipated candy cane cupcakes. Local rancher Barney McCrory manages to charm one away from her before the ceremony begins. But unfortunately, when the minty confection is finished, so is he.

This isn’t the first time someone has dropped dead after eating one of Phyllis’s treats. But when the paramedics determine the rancher was shot, suspicion swiftly falls on McCrory’s daughter and her husband—who both stand to reap some sweet rewards from his death. Though Phyllis doesn’t want to get mixed up in another murder investigation, something about this case doesn’t sit right with her. With a little help from a tabloid TV news crew, Phyllis must unwrap the truth and restore good cheer to Weatherford before it’s too late…

Includes recipes!

MY REVIEW

Every time I read a new book in the Fresh Baked Mystery series, I come away from it completely entertained, and hungry!

In THE CANDY CANE CUPCAKE KILLER, it’s Christmas in Weatherford, Texas and protagonist, Phyllis Newsom is back and baking up goodies. However, author Livia J. Washburn is cooking up murder.

The action and intrigue start off in chapter one and continues to build through the entire book, all the way to the surprising reveal. I had a suspect all picked out, I just knew I was right, but I was way off. I love it when that happen, even if I do want to solve one once in a while. ;-)

It’s easy to see in this story just how much Ms. Washburn loves writing her series. With every new book, her characters grow and develop new layers. Her writing, which has been wonderful since book one, A PEACH OF A MURDER, continues to capture the imagination and hold the reader transfixed.

If you’re looking for a fast paced, enjoyable book, one that will draw you in, look no further because you’ve found it!

Make sure to check out the back of the book for amazing recipes, and an excerpt from book one in this series, A PEACH OF A MURDER.

TRIMMED WITH MURDER
Book 10 in the Seaside Knitters Mystery series
by
Sally Goldenbaum

In this holiday yarn from the USA Today bestselling author of A Finely Knit Murder, all Izzy Chambers Perry wants for Christmas is to keep her brother out of jail....

In Sea Harbor, the holidays mean cozy fires, festive carols, and soft skeins of yarn waiting to become hats and sweaters and scarves. And this year, Izzy and the other Seaside Knitters are also knitting tiny ornaments to decorate a tree for the first annual tree-trimming contest.

Their holiday cheer is multiplied when Izzy’s younger brother, Charlie Chambers, unexpectedly arrives to volunteer at a local clinic. He brings with him outspoken hitchhiker Amber Hanson, who is returning to Sea Harbor to claim an inheritance. She quickly reacquaints herself with the area—and forms an unlikely friendship with Charlie. But their bond is shattered when her body is found beneath the undecorated trees on the Harbor Green.

Charlie is a suspect in the murder, so Izzy and her fellow Knitters step in to uncover the truth. Their journey takes them into Charlie’s past and tests their fierce love for him. But it’s only by peeling away long-buried secrets that they can hope to restore joy to the season and enjoy the shining lights of the newly decorated trees....

MY REVIEW

Author Sally Goldenbaum pens a beautiful image of Christmas in Sea Harbor, a cozy little sea side town with so much to offer…including murder.

In this newest installment in the Seaside Knitters Mystery series, Ms. Goldenbaum not only gives us another wonderful mystery, she knits together a story of family and homecoming, good or bad. There were moments in this story that tugged at my heart, and caused me to tear up.

TRIMMED WITH MURDER is a perfect addition to this charming series. Filled with extraordinary characters…both old and new, a quaint setting described in such detail I could smell the chilly sea breeze, and a first rate murder mystery that if you are anything like me, will have you holding your breath until the incredible ending.

Set some time aside, grab a soft blanket, put on a pot of tea, and enjoy trimmed with murder.

And check out the back of the book for a fun knitting project and a delicious recipe!
