Where is my bookmark today?
I have two bookmarks working.

The first book I'm reading is
HALLOWEEN HIJINKS
by Kathi Daley

Amid a backdrop of zombies on the run and Halloween festivities, animal control officer Zoe Donovan is faced with losing something she loves in order to save someone she loves when she finds a dead body in the basement of a haunted house just two days before Halloween. With the help of her best friends, Levi and Ellie, and her dog Charlie, she delves into a mystery as complex and multilayered as the feelings she develops for her ex-nemesis Zak Zimmerman. Halloween Hijinks is the perfect recipe, combining holiday fun with a touch of humor, a pinch of romance, and a dollop of murder.

HALLOWEEN HIJINKS is the first book in the Zoe Donovan mystery series. I'm really enjoying this book. Author Kathi Daley has a fun, easy writing style that keeps you turning the pages.
(Oh, I like that! I'm going to use it in my review! ;-) )

My second bookmark is in
NANCY DREW: THE HIDDEN STAIRCASE

Teenage detective Nancy Drew uses her courage and powers of deduction to solve the mysterious happenings in an old stone mansion.

I'm having a great time getting to know Nancy Drew again. It's been far too long since we hung out and solved some mysteries together.

I'd like to offer some advice to my readers today.
Start the first book in a new series, by a new author this week. Be it a brand new author or an established author that is new to you.

And read an old favorite. I suggest something from your childhood. Re-reading Nancy Drew is bringing me so much joy. I would love for you to experance that feeling as well.

So, that's what I'm reading. How about you?
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you're reading today.

Or just leave me a comment and let me know what you think about my blog. Your comments make me happy and keep going.

Hate my blog? I can take it. Tell me what you don't like or what you would like to see.

Happy Monday!

  4. Like many others, I read a couple of books at a time. I am reading two paperbacks right now, with one that I am on the last few pages which is Pearls and Poison by Duffy Brown and the second one is an ARC. by Alyssa Maxwell, and that is Murder at Marble House. I am also reading a Brilliant Disguise e-book. All are super great books. As to Kathi Daley, I am not familiar with her at all, but would enjoy trying her series. As to Nancy Drew, I would absolutely LOVE to receive this as it is one of the ones that I grew up reading 60 years ago. What memories of Nancy, the Hardy Boys, and others in the 50's. I want to get as many of these Nancy Drew books for not only my 10 year old granddaughter but for my 7 year old grandson as he is reading wonderfully well and I am sure will enjoy the Hardy Boys.

Thank you so much for your great reviews and comments Lisa. It is a joy to read your column when I do. Not being able to be on the computer too much each day makes it hard for me to comment on everything I read, but I do read everything. This time I could not pass up commenting about Nancy Drew. Not sure if brings back fond memories or makes me feel even older knowing that I read them all those years ago. !!!!! :)

    1. Cynthia, I love Duffy Brown! As for Kathi, her books are fun. It seems as though Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys and so many others really touch a lot of peoples lives.

Thank you for all the kind words. It's because of people like you that I keep doing this and am always trying to think of new and fun things to do!

  5. Love your blog and reviews. I am also reading several things right now. Currently book 2 of the Maggie Hope series - Princess Elizabeth's Spy. Just finished Engaged in Murder by Nancy Parra which is first in a series. Also just finished Lights Out! by Donald Bain. Buried in a Book by Lucy Arlington caught my eye at the library so will be starting that series.

Somehow I missed reading Nancy Drew when I was young, started right off on the adult bookshelf. Maybe time to check them out?

    1. Thank you so much! I haven't heard of Maggie Hope or her series, but both BURIED IN A BOOK and ENGAGED IN MURDER are on my TBR shelves.

Wow, you missed out on Nancy Drew?! Try the first one sometime when you can. You'll really see where grown up cozies partly came from!

    2. Oops, I wasn't clear - Maggie Hope is the main character in Susan Elia MacNeal's "Mr. Churchill's Secretary" and subsequent books in the series. It's a good read.

I will check out Nancy Drew for sure!

  6. I am sad to say, I never read Nancy Drew as a kid either. I had a reading disability when I was small, and didn't really get into reading books until I was in the 7th grade. When I started reading, I read a lot of Caroline B Cooney and R.L. Stine "goosebumps," books.

I am currently reading Mayhem at the Orient Express by Kylie Logan. It's a very good book, the character Chandra is hysterical funny. I've laughed at loud, to a lot of her scenes in the book.

    1. Amanda, it's wonderful that you overcame your disability! It must have been very frustrating. LOL If you were reading R. L. Stine, Nancy Drew would not have been hard core enough for you! ;-)
