It's
Cozy Food Friday!

That means it's time to share a recipe from
another great cozy mystery!
Today's recipe comes from Kathi Daley's seventh book in her
Zoe Donovan Mystery series, MAUI MADNESS.
A special thank you to Dawn Frazier for suggesting this recipe.

Banana Macadamia Nut Muffins

1 1/4 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 large)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1/4 cup milk
1 large egg
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 cups macaamia nuts, toasted, chopped

Preheat oven to 350°F

Grease twelve muffin cups or line with muffin papers.

Combine bananas, both sugars, butter, milk, and egg in large bowl.

Mix in flour, baking soda, and spices. Fold in half of nuts.

Divide batter among prepared muffin cups.

Sprinkle tops of muffins with remaining macadamia nuts.

Bake until muffins are golden brown and tester inserted into center comes out clean...about 25 minutes.

print and Kindle formats.

Zoe and the gang go to Maui and become involved not only in a treasure hunt for a sunken ship, but in a murder mystery with more twists than a mountain road. Join the gang as they dine in popular restaurants, go shopping, try surfing, and make new friends only to have to decide who they can trust and who may be hiding more than it would appear.

There are some things you should never do.

Not even if you are on vacation and you adhere to the adage what happens in Maui stays in Maui.

Not even if you're able to make your boyfriend laugh and your best friends smile for the first time in weeks.

Not even if you're sipping your third Mai Tai in less than two hours and any inhabitions you may have at one point possessed have gone the way of your common sense.

Unfortunately, I didn't stumble across this very important piece of insight until it was too late. Much, much too late.

Continuing with the Maui Madness theme...
My Friday 56

The police didn't want anyone to leave until everyone had been interviewed, so it was well into early morning by the time Zak, Levi, and I returned to the house in Maui.

  3. This sounds like a fun story. I love the opening lines and the Page 56 selection, and the Maui setting makes it even more appealing. I'll read this book for sure. Thanks for the muffin recipe. I've added it to my collection.

    2. Mark, Linda is right. Kathi's books are a lot of fun. Also, not your typical "cookie cutter" type of cozy. And she's an awesome person.

  8. I see that so often in mysteries and cozies. The police want every person to stick around. I would have to find a nice cushy couch and lie down or I would fall asleep on my feet.
