Take it away Lauren!

Hello.  My name is Lauren Vancouver, and I'm featured in the Pet Rescue Mysteries that are written by my chronicler, Linda O. Johnston, for Berkley Prime Crime.  Linda asked me to write this guest post for Lisa Kelley's blog, partly because a copy of my latest full-length adventure TEACUP TURBULENCE will be given away to one lucky person who posts a comment.

So who am I?  Mostly, I'm a pet rescuer.  I love pets, particularly dogs, and would do anything to make sure they get to live happy, healthy lives.  As a result, I am the chief administrator at HotRescues, a wonderful no-kill pet shelter in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley.  Unlike most managers of organizations like mine I don't have to worry about funding since we have a great benefactor: Dante DeFrancisco, an extremely wealthy man who is the guy friend of Kendra Ballantyne, Pet-Sitter--whose adventures, like mine, were chronicled by Linda.

I have a feeling that there's something about Linda that she's not telling us.  She must love to chase and write about murders, since Kendra had to solve a bunch involving her and her friends, and then it became my turn.  I'm thinking about stopping, but just recently I got involved in saving a woman who came to HotRescues to relinquish her beloved Chihuahua since she thought she was about to be arrested for murder.  Rather than taking in her adored dog, I solved the murder--and Linda has chronicled that story in a novella, CHIHUAHUA CHAOS, available in e-format on Kindle.

And Linda tells me that she soon will be chronicling the adventures of another person, Rory Chasen, in the Superstition Mysteries from Midnight Ink.  Yes, from what I understand, Rory not only tries to figure out if superstitions are real, but she also solves at least one murder.  Oh, and she also winds up running a special pet boutique, too, along with her lucky dog Pluckie.

Will I be placed in the position of having to solve more murders?  At this point, I'm not sure.  What do you think?  Do you think I should--and if so, should Linda write about them? Let us know, and you'll be entered into the drawing to win a copy of TEACUP TURBULENCE.

Oh, and by the way, in case you were wondering, in the Pet Rescue Mysteries, "no-kill" means pets, not people.

Thank you for being here, Lauren!

  28. Cool! Awesome to recommend no-kill shelters, especially to a confirmed crazy cat lady like me who can't bring them all home! I'm looking forward to reading this series. The first in the series is in my ever-growing tbr stack, but winning this would certainly move it to the top - and sell a few more in between! My oldest stepdaughter introduced me to teacups with her teacup Chihuahuas. Many thanks, Lisa, for today's post, and to Linda for the giveaway!
