I have to admit something.

Right here. Right now.

It may be hard for some of you to hear, but . . .

I am a crayon slob.

Seriously.

If it isn't Crayola, I won't use it.
I've been like this since I was a child.

Opening a box of new Crayola's . . .
Mmm . . . That smell!
Nothing was better smelling than Mom's cooking!

Crayola's have change so much over the years.
They have markers, paints, paper . . .
You just never know what you can find!

What about the color names?

Dream Creamy Orange
Chock-A-Lot Shake
Macaroni & Cheese
Tickle Me Pink
Purple Mountain's Majesty

I could go on and on.
What is my favorite Crayola name?
Tumbleweed!

Okay. Right about now you're saying, "What?".

Many years ago I had an inside joke going with a young woman I worked with. The joke included tumbleweeds.

She came into work one day with a little package for me. Carefully wrapped inside was a single
Tumbleweed Crayola Crayon!
I still have that Crayola from almost 25 years ago, and it still makes me laugh.

How about you?
Were or are you a crayon snob like me?

Is there anything past or present that you have to have the brand name of?
Food, clothing/shoes, electronics, anyting.

There are a few foods that I'm a snob about.

Mayo has to be Hellmann's.
No store brand soda.
SPAM not that Treat stuff.

Have a beautiful Thursday friends!

    1. I'm so happy you said that. Only JIF peanut butter for me. It used to be only Scott toilet paper. However, during the great tp shortage of 2020, the only tp I could find was the Walgreens store brand. You can't tell the difference between it and Scott!

  2. There’s just something about the smell of Crayola crayons, that takes us back to our childhood. Such memories!
    Happy Thursday, Lisa.

    1. Hey, Pat! Exactly! Opening a new box and that Crayola smell hits you. Nothing like it.

  3. Agree with you that Crayola is THE brand. They also hold wonderful memories for me. Think they were my first (as well as for most) adventure into being creative. It also taught me that you don't always have to color within the lines to make something to be proud of.

When it comes to food, I am a snob. I very rarely will accept a generic equivalent. DelMonte is the only brand of can veggies, Van Camp's is the only brand of pork 'n' beans, there is no substitute for Diet Pepsi.

On the other hand, I've never been a brand person when it comes to clothes. Maybe it's because when I was growing up, there were no brand labels to speak of. Tennis shoes were Keds is about the only brand of clothing I knew of.

    Have a fabulous Thursday!

    1. Kay, they are indeed THE brand. :-) I was a food brand snob. Only wanted to eat what I grew up will. When my sister lost her about 6 years ago, things got pretty tight for us. So, we begrudgingly started trying some generic brands. The are some that we still get today just because we love them. Food Lion brand salad dressing, ice cream sandwiches, pickles, deli meats and cheese, cheese blocks and shredded cheeses . . . I know there are some I'm missing. Veggies and tuna fish not so much.
Being overweight, I've never been a clothing snob. It's always been about comfort not brand. Sneakers though, right now have to be Reebok. They just feel better all the way around.

  4. this made me laugh. I am also a crayon snob. I will only use Crayola also. and because i make my own greeting cards, I use a lot of crayons and colored pencils. so many people over the years have given me crayons and colored pencils knowing I use them. but i always have to seperate them from my "crayola" to "misc". I tried using some of the misc crayons with an iron onto card stock. it is ok. but truly crayola works the best. LOL love your tumbleweed crayon

    1. Welcome to the Crayola Snob Club! I'm beginning to think we need a discussion group! LOL

  5. Seems like I'm in this group: I'm a food brand name snob, tp snob, and absolute Crayola lover/snob. Also, a laundry and dish detergent snob, but more bec of problems (allergies, rashes, etc.) from other brands. When I used to drink wine, I really only liked French wine and French champagne, but that fell by the wayside with age and priorities (cost, tee hee). Fun post and great discussion.

    1. One of us! One of us!
I just had to stop using a lotion that I have used for at least a year now. I have never had such bad hives or itched so much. The best part . . . I was putting the lotion on to sooth the itching because I thought it was the laundry detergent causing it.

  6. Oh my goodness! You are the first person I've ever known that is a crayon slob like me! I agree with everything you said about them. When I first started school we had to get a box of 8 pack crayons because the teacher thought the big size would be easier for us to color with. I still remember what order I put my crayons in (yes, I was a bit OCD even back when I was in the first grade). Red, Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow, Orange, Brown, Black. I have no idea why I still remember that other than I always put them in that order and it just stuck in my head. You don't even know how happy this post has made me!

    1. As you can see, you're not alone! LOL
I love that you put them in order. I used to split mine up between boy and girl colors. All the dark colors for the boy and pastels for the girls. There were a few excepts little yellow and red were girl colors. Hmmm . . . I may need to call my therapist. ;-)

  7. I don't even remember there being any other brand when I was a kid. It must be Miracle Whip, no other similar dressing has the right zing. No other diet colas except Diet Coke.
